What is Microcurrent ?

Here is part of an article written in New Zealand Fitness Magazine answering questions on Non-Surgical Facelift:
“Microcurrent therapy has been scientifically proven to increase levels of ATP, increase collagen production and promote ion transfer through cell membranes, all of which improve appearance. With its toning effect, it helps in a way treatments like botox can't." It helps re-establish muscle memory, naturally lifting sagging skin and softening wrinkles while improving skin elasticity.

A recommended 10 treatments are needed for best results, with a follow-up maintenance regime of one treatment a month. All up it's just the snip of the cost of a surgical procedure.
Dermatologist David Goldberg, clinical professor at the Department of Dermatology at the Mt Sinai School of Medicine in New York, reported earlier this year that microcurrent therapy is effective, safe and offers a way to tighten the skin without using surgery.

The electrical impulse treatments have grown out of the more than 20 years use of microcurrent therapy in medical and physiotherapy treatments to alleviate pain and treat problems such as Bell's palsy.

    How Many Treatments Are Required?

For ultimate results, people between the ages of 30-40 will require 10 treatments.

Occasionally, those ages forty and older may require 15-20 treatments, depending on your skin’s condition. It is suggested you start with the 10 treatment series and if you would like to continue for more results, make a decision at that time.

It is best to come once or twice a week for the first ten treatments.
After treatments have been completed, a treatment is recommended every month.

    Are There Any Contraindications?

Contra-indications for microcurrent therapy include: cardiac pacemakers, epilepsy, metal implants, skin irritation, pregnancy, and cancerous lesions.

    Who Is Getting Treatments?

Lord of the Ring actress Liv Tyler is a big fan of microcurrent therapy. Liv's only in her 20’s, but when younger women start the treatment it really delays the onset of facial aging.”- New Zealand Fitness Magazine
